The Pretty Reckless
Band formation and debut EP
The four piece hard rock band surfaced in the music landscape in 2009. The group features the vocal and guitar talents of famous “Gossip Girl” actress, Taylor Momsen. The group was originally named The Reckless but changed their name to The Pretty Reckless to avoid trademark problems. Joining the lineup was Nick Carbone on drums, John Secolo on guitar and Matt Chiarelli on bass.
In 2010, after opening for Veronicas on their North American tour and recording a couple of demos, the group signed with Interscope Records. Shortly after Carbone, Secolo and Chiarelli parted from the band and Mark Damon, Ben Phillips and Jamie Perkins joined in their place.
After the revised lineup, the hard rockers released their first single “Make Me Wanna Die” as the soundtrack for the movie Kick-ass. The single was featured on their debut album Light Me Up which was released in 2010. The album achieved moderate success and was followed by the group’s first headlining, album support tour.
Later albums and Going to Hell
The band released their first EP while still on tour. The eponymous EP featured four songs and received mixed reactions. It was followed by a five-song EP in 2012 titled, Hit Me Like A Man.
2014 saw the release of the hard rock ensemble’s highly popular album, Going to Hell. The album reached the first place on the Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart and spawned rock hits like “Follow Me Down” and “Heaven Knows.” The album was not only critically successful but commercially popular as well. It sold over thirty-five thousand copies in its first week of sale.
The quartet’s single “Messed up World” also charted at number one on the rock radio chart. Following the release of singles from their second album, the band had already embarked on its album support tour in 2013. They also switched their label from Interscope to Razor & Tie after their recent album.
The female-fronted band has a successful tour history. Soon after their formation the band opened for the Veronicas on their tour and got noticed for the first time. Their first headlining tour, Light Me Up Tour, was an extensive international trek spanning more than a hundred shows over two years. The rockers also featured on the Vans Warped touring festival during this time and several other international music festivals.
Their successful live performances earned them invitations to perform as supporting acts for the likes of Evanescence, Guns N’ Roses and Marilyn Manson. As a result of these gigs the band also received much exposure and fame among hard rock fans.
The Pretty Reckless headlined their second tour in 2012. The set list for The Medicine Tour comprised of songs from the group’s debut album and their second EP. Their 2013 Going to Hell Tour proved to even bigger than the previous tours. It included nearly two hundred shows across various venues in North America and Europe. The group also featured as the supporting act for Fall Out Boy, Halestorm and Nickelback as part of this tour.
Due to their extensive touring, the hard rock act has achieved considerable fame in the music world. The Pretty Reckless tickets are likely to be in great demand as the band heads on their upcoming tour.
