Susan Tedeschi was born in 1970 in Boston Massachusetts. She was inclined towards music from an early age, Susan gave her first performance when she was just six years old. When she was thirteen she had started performing with different bands and made her own band by the name of The Smokin’ Section when she was eighteen years of age. Susan has got a degree in music composition from the very famous Berklee College of Music. Primarily Susan is a singer but she can fluently play the guitar. She has a powerful voice which makes her stand-out among all her counterparts. Susan cites guitarist Freddie King, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Buddy Guy as her major influences for guitar playing where as for singing she is heavily inspired by Janis Joplin and Bonnie Raitt.
Derek Trucks is a blues rock guitarist hailing from Jacksonville Florida. Trucks was born in 1979, he was taught guitar playing at an early age by a famous musician Jim Graves who also belonged to Jacksonville. While still in his early teens Trucks had gained reasonable fluency in guitar playing and started touring with the acclaimed rock and blues rock band The Allman Brothers. Before Trucks turned twenty he had already played with notable artists like Joe Walsh, Stephen Sills and Bob Dylan. In the year 1999 Trucks was officially made a member of The Allman Brothers and since then he is attached with the band along with Warren Haynes as permanent lead guitarist.
Derek Trucks with The Allman Brothers has released four successful studio albums mainly focusing on southern rock, blues, jazz fusion and blues rock. Trucks has also released nine albums with his own band called The Derek Trucks Band. Apart from guitar playing Trucks can also fluently play the Sarod an Indian instrument which he learned to play while he was studying music in California at the Ali Akbar College of Music. Trucks cites B.B. King, Duane Allman, Charlie Parker, Wayne Shorter, Miles Davis and John Coltrane as some of his major influences. Trucks is placed at # 81 on "The Greatest Guitarists of All Time" list of Rolling Stone magazine
. He was described as "the most awe-inspiring electric slide guitar player performing today" by the Wall Street Journal
Susan and Derek met at a concert and decided to get married, together they formed the Tedeschi Trucks Band in 2010, which includes a long list of members belonging originally to their individual solo projects. The band has performed at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, Crossroads Guitar Festival and Fuji Rock Festival. The couple also worked with Herbie Hancock and performed a track called Space Captain for Hancock’s album The Imagine Project
. Tedeschi Trucks band till date has released one album in 2011 called Revelator
, this album landed at #92 on Canadian Charts, #164 on UK Charts and was termed as a masterpiece by Rolling Stone magazine
