Furthur Tickets

John Kadlecik of Dark Side Orchestra is the lead guitarist; Jeff Chementi of Ratdog is on the keyboard. Joe Russo of Benevento / Russo duo plays the drums. The other members of the group includes backup vocalist Sunshine Becker of the Capella ensemble, SoVoSo’ and Jeff Pehrson of the folk rock bands Box Set and the Fall Risk respectively.

About Furthur


The Grateful Dead was known for their unique music and are recognized as the pioneering Godfather of the jam band music world. The group was active from 1965 till 1995. After they disbanded in 1995, the various members formed different bands and performance acts. Further by Bob Weir and Phil Lesh has brought back the same charm and unique melodies in the music world after all the years. It is equally popular with older generations and the youth of today. In 2009, Bob Weir and Phil Lesh announced that they had formed a new band with the name of Further. The name of the band was inspired by the international harvester of 1939, psychedelic colored bus. It was used by the novelist, Ken Kessey and Merry Prankster in 1964 to tour America while they attended New York’s World tour in 1964 to launch his second novel Sometimes a Great Notion.  Further was the name of the multi colored bus as well as the final destination of the bus as indicated from the inscription on the destination placards of the bus. In some ways, the final destination of the bus represented the mindset of the transition from the Beat generation culture to the more heavily drug infused hippie culture. All the bands including Grateful Dead were guides and ambassadors to that conceptual and intellectual journey. The band debuted with their performance in Fox Theatre, Oakland, California in September, 2009.

Further has retained much of the style and characteristics of the Grateful Dead’s music. During their concerts, they play many previously famous songs by them as well as new songs. They also play cover songs of bands such as the Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, The Band and The Clash. Their concerts are usually jam packed and lovers of music and their fans attend the concerts no matter what. Further has performed in various music shows and festivals until now. Some members left the band while others joined in. The band is going strong and has not looked back since their first performance in 2009. The performances for the year 2011 started with their three shows in Odeum Colorado in February, 2011. It was shortly followed by the 24 shows tour in East Coast which began in March, 2011 in Boston, MA and commenced on April 6, 2011 in Boca Raton, Florida.

During these tours, some multi-night shows were also run in smaller venues including 5 nights in Best Buy Theatre in New York, 3 nights at Radio City Music Hall in New York and 5 nights at the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby outside Philadelphia. The summer tour for 2011 will begin on June 3, 2011 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain view, CA and will end on July 31, 2011 in Alpharetta, GA. It is believed that more shows will be added during the tour. It is rumored that they will be touring the west coast in autumn of 2011. There are various fan sites of the band which informs about the tour dates and venues of Further. The concerts of Further are astounding and offer totally matchless experience than any other concerts. The crowd mostly consists of die-hard fans of the rock music.
