This three times Grammys nominee has had his share of troubles in life. From working as a hotel janitor to being a solo performer in small bars, Aaron formed Staind in 1995 after leaving a minor act titled J-CAT. Initially the band focused on performing covers to rock legends such as Alice in Chains, Tool and KoRn in gigs at smaller clubs for over 18 months. Tormented, Staind’s debut album, was released in 1996 with a mere four thousand copies sold originally. The album didn’t create the breakthrough for the boys but they sure did learn from it. 1999 saw their second album Dysfunction come out and suddenly they were competing with the likes of KoRn and Pearl Jam. The highlight of the album was Aaron Lewis’s distinctively strong vocals. Dysfunction topped Billboard’s Heatseaker Charts and the second single titled Mudshovel was perhaps the most successful of them all.
During the same time Staind had the Family Values Tour with fellow bands like Limp Bizkit. Bizkit’s Fred Durst was also the co-producer of Dysfunction. During this tour Aaron performed his first mainstream hit Outside with Fred. After gaining momentum and performing at numerous venues, Staind released their third studio album Break the Cycle in 2001. The first single of this album titled It’s Been a While was a huge success, thanks to some out-of-this world vocals by Aaron. Break the Cycle sold over 716,000 albums in the first week alone and debuted at No. 1 spot in the Billboard’s Top 200 Album Charts. The third album is, to date, the most successful Staind album, with over 7 million copies sold worldwide.
Aaron’s inner desires for live performances came alive once again in early 2003 and the band had a string of shows to promote their next album, building on the success of the predecessor. 14 Shades of Grey had a similar reception; charting No.1 on Billboard’s Top 200 and sold over two million copies. The track So Far Away remained in the rock charts for a staggering 14 weeks. WWE used the first single from the album Price to Play as the theme song to Vengeance pay-per-view.
It’s very easy to fall from grace when you achieve such huge success, but that wasn’t the case with Aaron. His band came up with a third consecutive number one album in the mid 2005 titled Chapter V. The album featured the hit single Right Here, which was also used as the theme track for WWE superstar Edge. Their association to World Wrestling Entertainment was mainly due to Aaron’s strong vocals as a symbol of masculinity. The Singles: 1996-2006 was a greatest hits compilation featuring all the major hits, B-sides as well as covers.
Their latest album titled The Illusion of Progress was released in 2008 and debuted at No.3 in US Billboard 200 and had sales of over 91,800 albums in the very first week. Believe, the first single from the album and was an instant hit. Another song titled This is It also featured in Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – The Album. Staind also supported Nickleback on their 2008 tour to Europe giving them even more recognition globally. During the same time Aaron hinted that he is working on a solo album and the anticipation of fans multiplied as they wanted to see how the artist pulls off a more self-centred EP after the huge success with Staind. In July 2010 he completed his solo album which is titled Town Line and will be released March this year. He has described the genre of this forthcoming album as more country than metal. Keeping that in mind, Aaron has embarked on a series of shows and gigs nationwide this year, promoting his new album as well as singing all of the best songs that his fans have enjoyed throughout the years. With his signature Gibson 1951 Southern Jumbo guitar held in his tattooed arms, Aaron is definitely a show stopper. He’s also ranked by the famous Hit Parader’s Heavy Metal's All-Time Top 100 Vocalistslist at #49.'Aaron Lewis Tickets are available now and this is your chance to see the master of nu metal give a flawless performance live in your city.
